Reports From The Public Hearing on the "Bill to Establish The Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, 2016

The Public Hearing on the "Bill to Establish The Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, 2016, was a great success. It was well well attended.

The participants at the hearing include; The Governor of Anambra State represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Akabike, the Speaker and the Honourable members of Anambra State House of Assembly, Commissioner for Finance, Ifeatu Onejeme, representatives of ndi igwe and PGs. Others are the Chief Medical Director, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, Prof Igwegbe; the Chairman, Board of Directors, COOUTH (Amaku Teaching Hospital), Awka, HRM (Dr.) Ilouno; representatives of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), and Dr. Don Onyeji who gave
testimony as an enrollee/user of NHIS. Other groups that were in attendance are,  the NMA, PSN, Assoc. of Medical Lab  Scientists of Nigerian, NUT, NUJ, CSO/NGOs, Organized Labor, HMOs, Chamber of Commerce and many others. 

The public hearing afforded an opportunity for Ndi Anambra to make their contributions to the Bill. 

These recommendations shall be considered by th

e House of Assembly before the Bill will be passed into Law.

We commend Ndi Anambra for their active participation. 

It is said that, health is wealth. We therefore most passionately urge everyone to get involved in the Scheme when it comes on board.  

It is important to note that, the essence of this Health Insurance Scheme is to ensure the our people enjoy quality and accessible healthcare at all times, their financial status notwithstanding.
