THE BRIEF
PROFILE OF HON. BARR. KINGSLEY CHUKWUMA
IRUBA
Hon. Barr. Kingsley Chukwuma Iruba
hails from Iruokpara village, Azigbo, Nnewi Local Government Area, Anambra State . He started his early education at
Azigbo Central School ,
Azigbo where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. From there he
moved to Amichi Boys Secondary School Amichi for his Junior Secondary School
Education and later to the Nnewi High School Nnewi for his Senior Secondary School .
After his Secondary School education,
Hon. Barr. Kingsley Iruba proceeded to Rivers State School of Basic Studies for
his “A” Level in preparation to gaining admission into the University. He later
gained admission into the prestigious University of Jos where he earned
Bachelor of Law. In 2004, he moved to the Nigeria Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos and was called to
Bar in 2005.
He performed his National Youth
Service Corp Assignment in Abeokuta , Ogun State .
Immediately after his youth service assignment, because of his love for
litigation, he returned to Aba and went into active Legal Practice in the
Chambers of C. C. Elele & Associates, Aba. During his active legal practice
besides his knowledge in legal drafting, he handled many serious Civil and
Criminal cases even up to the Supreme Court of Nigeria. So many of such cases,
he initiated and prosecuted to successful conclusion. Some are now at appeal
stages.
Hon. Barr. Kingsley Iruba is a member
of several professional bodies including; Nigerian Bar Association; Nigerian Institute
of Management; Professional Negotiators and mediators etc. He is equally a
motivational speaker.
Hon. Barr. Kingsley Iruba has held
several leadership positions both while in school and outside the school: He
was the Class Prefect from Primary 3 to 6 at Azigbo Central
School . In the secondary
school, he was the House Prefect of Hostel B at the Nnewi High School .
At the University of Jos, he became the President, Liberty Chambers, Faculty of
Law. Equally, he was the first President, Federation of Azigbo Students, a
position he held for two consecutive tenures between. While in Law School, he
served as a member of the Student Representative Council of the Nigerian Law
School, Lagos Campus. In 2010, he was appointed the Legal Adviser to the Boys
Brigade Nigeria, Aba Battalion Council.
His love to serve his people in
higher capacity led him to seek for an elective position in 2010 under the
platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Consequently, he contested
the State House of Assembly election in 2011 to represent Nnewi South
Constituency 1. By the special grace and mercy of the Almighty God he won the
said election; and on the 13th day of June 2011, Hon. Barr. Kingsley
Chukwuma Iruba was sworn in as the member representing the good people of Nnewi
South Constituency 1 at the Anambra State House of Assembly. In July 2014, he
was trained in Public Policy Process by the Leadership Institute, Arlington,
USA. He is currently the Chairman Committee on Transport and Vice Chairman
Committee on Lands beside his membership of several other Committees.
In the House of Assembly, he
sponsored, co-sponsored and supported many motions and bills for the good
governance of Anambra
State . The most recent
ones are: Shutting down of illegal
Schools in Anambra
State ; Provision of Catch
Pits in all compounds and roads as means of curbing the erosion menace in our
State; Development of historical heritage and tourist sites in Anambra State
etc. Hotel Licensing and Proprietors Bill 2014; Indigent Senior Citizens Relief
Bill, 2013; Prohibition of Touting in Public Places Bill 2014; Establishment of
office for persons living with disability Bill 2014; Use of Automated
Machines/Bank and Bills Bill 2014; Anambra State Investment Promotion and
Protection Agency Bill 2014; Anambra State Oil and Gas Development Agency Bill
2014; Awka Capital Development Authority (Amendment) Bill 2014 etc.
On 11th day of April, 2015
Hon. Barr. Kingsley Iruba was reelected to continue to represent the good
people of Nnewi South 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly.
Thus he is now a ranking member in the House of Assembly and he is ever ready
and willing to bring his wealth of experience in legislative duties to bear in
the 6th Assembly. In collaboration with his colleagues, he will
continue to promote the integrity of the Legislature as well as ensure that
dividends of democracy are delivered to ndi Anambra for the development our
beloved State.
THE BLUE PRINT OF AGENDA OF HON. BARR.
KINGSLEY IRUBA AS A MEMBER OF STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY
The
blue print of my agenda is anchored on the three major functions or duties of a
legislator, namely: law making, oversight function and representation.
1. LAW MAKING:
As a law maker, I will uphold and maintain the integrity of the House of
Assembly. In so doing, I will collaborate with my Honourable colleagues, to
ensure that people oriented laws are made and passed for the good of Ndi
Anambra, in line with the vision and mission of our government led by Governor,
His Excellency, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano, particularly in the areas of
Agriculture, Oil and Gas, Industrialization, Trade and Commerce which are the
four pillars of his administration. Equally, I shall look at the existing laws
and where necessary, bring an amendment to the said law to ensure that they are
in conformity with the present needs of our State. I will also support and
ensure quick passage of all the Executive Bills presented by the Executive arms
provided that such bills are intended for the good of Ndi Anambra. I will
support and promote good policies and regulations of the Government formulated
for the actualization of the vision and mission of this administration.
Finally, I will ensure that our laws are in line with the yearnings and aspirations
of Ndi Anambra.
2. OVERSIGHT FUNCTION:
Through our oversight function, I will ensure adequate implementation of the
budgets through quality service delivery. I will ensure that any money budgeted
for and released for projects is fully utilized for the said project by the
concerned Ministries, Departments and Agencies. I will also ensure that all the
leakages and loopholes in our revenue windows are completely blocked so as to
maximize our internally generated revenue base. I will continue to support and
assist our Governor, His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano to deliver on his
promises to Ndi Anambra in the areas of Education, Environment, Transportation,
Security, Housing and Urban Development, Finance, Civil and Social
Infrastructure, Healthcare etc.
3. REPRESENTATION:
I will ensure that the cordial relation between Executive arm and Legislative
arm is strengthen and improved upon. I will use my good offices as a legislator
and skills to give quality and effective representation to Ndi Anambra and to
my constituents in particular, by looking after their needs/yearnings and
presenting same to the Government by way of motions or Bills for necessary
actions. Again, I will ensure that adequate provisions are made in the budget
to carter for the needs of our people. I will equally ensure that even the
vulnerable in our society, women, children, persons living with disability and
aged person are given adequate representation. I will assist is sensitizing/educating
Ndi Anambra, especially my constituents on the policies and workings of the
Government and encourage them to continue to support the Government. Likewise,
I will receive their feedback and communicate same to the Government or the
concerned authority for necessary actions.
