CHIEF OBIANO PRESENTS THE 2017 DRAFT ESTIMATES TO THE ANHA -TITLED: BUDGET FOR ECONOMIC RECOVERY AND INCLUSIVE GROWTH





His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano, the Executive Governor of Anambra State on Tuesday 6th December, 2016 presented the 2017 Draft Estimates to the Anambra State House of Assembly. The Budget was Titled "BUDGET FOR ECONOMIC RECOVERY AND INCLUSIVE GROWTH." Key statistics from the budget is as shown below:

The total budget size is #115, 512, 873, 810.00

Recurrent Expenditure is #56, 587, 191, 867.00 representing 49% of the budget, while Capital Expenditure is  #58, 925, 681, 943.00 representing 51% of the budget. 

BREAKDOWN OF CAPITAL EXPENDITURE

1. Economic empowerment through agriculture= 9.23%
2. Enhanced skills and knowledge = 5.78%
3. Environmental improvement = 3.38%
4. Gender = 0.47%
5. Growing the private sector = 1.96%
6. Housing and urban development =5.50%
7. Improvement to Human health =4.75%
8. Information communication and technology = 1.86%
9. Poverty alleviation = 6.56%

Hon. Kingsley Iruba at Nnewi South LGA Constituency Briefing organised by JDPC at Ukpor

Nnewi South LGA Constituency Briefing organised by JDPC held on 25/11/2016 at Nnewi South LGA Headquarters, Ukpor.

I was privileged to participate in the constituency briefing for Nnewi South LGA organised by JDPC today.

During the discussion, we considered the duties and responsibilities of a legislator. I highlighted some of our achievements particularly in area of lawmaking, representation and oversight.

We stressed on the importance of participatory democracy/governance. We encouraged our people to actively participate in governance.

Hon. Iruba Applauds Obiano As Unubi Modern Hospital Project in Nnewi South LGA is Inaugurated By The Governor Today

Hon Iruba applauds Obiano's for giving Ndi Unubi ultra modern hospital complex, under project the ongoing "Choose Your Project Initiative" of Obiano administration.


The governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Maduabuchukwu Obiano (Akpokuedike global, Agunechemba), this afternoon inaugurated Unubi modern hospital project in Nnewi South LGA Anambra, as part of choose one 20million naira community project initiated by Obiano's led administration in the 179 communities in the state. 



Gov Obiano described the initiative as strategic developmental measure as well as significant ploy to inject money into circulation in the state in other to cushion the impact of recession on the people of Anambra state. Saying that this idea and motive for initiative is guaranteed because both the contractors and laborers are ensured to be members of the respective communities in the state.  

A Bill for a Law to establish the Operation Clean and Healthy ANAMBRA (OCHA) Brigade Under Consideration At The House of Assembly

The House of Assembly today partly considered a Bill for a Law to establish the Operation Clean and Healthy ANAMBRA (OCHA) Brigade. The Bill is aimed at regulating the activities of the OCHA Brigade.

A Bill for a Law to Control Burial/Funeral Ceremonial Activities in Anambra State Passed Second Reading


The Anambra State House of Assembly yesterday (13/10/2016) considered for second reading,  a Bill for a Law to control Burial/Funeral Ceremonial Activities in Anambra State.

This Bill is intended to prohibit excessive spending and unnecessary expenses our people usually engage in during burial/funeral ceremonies.

By virtue of this Bill, no person shall deposit any corps in the mortuary or any other place beyond two months from the date of death.

The Bill is also aimed at encouraging our people to care for and celebrate their loved ones while they are alive and not at death. 

This Bill will also restrict the traditional rites of Umunna, Umuada,  Iyomdi etc during burial ceremonies.

The Bill further provides among other things that:

1. Town Union shall keep a register of all deaths in the town. 

2. The State shall establish and maintain burial grounds in all the local government areas in the state for the burial of any rejected or unidentified corps.

3. Any person who violates this law shall be guilty
